Introduction
My grandmother owned many beautiful kimono.
Some were vibrant and colorful.
Others were calm and elegant.
To many people, they may simply look like traditional clothing.
To me, they are family memories, pieces of Japanese culture, and a connection between generations.
That is why I decided to preserve them through digital books.
Kimono Are More Than Clothing
When people hear the word “kimono,” they often think of fashion or traditional dress.
However, kimono also tell stories.
The colors, patterns, fabrics, and techniques reflect the values, aesthetics, and seasons of Japan.
Each kimono carries a small piece of cultural history.
Why Digital Books?
A physical kimono can only be seen by a limited number of people.
A digital book can travel anywhere.
Someone in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else in the world can experience these colors and designs.
Digital books allow family memories to become cultural archives.
Preserving Culture in the AI Era
We live in a time when information is increasingly discovered through search engines and AI.
If cultural memories are not preserved digitally, they may gradually disappear from public awareness.
I believe small personal archives are also important.
My grandmother’s kimono may be a tiny collection, but it is part of a larger cultural story.
A Gentle Invitation to Japanese Culture
I do not create these books to encourage everyone to wear kimono.
Instead, I hope they become a friendly introduction to Japanese culture.
Through the colors my grandmother loved, I hope people can casually experience the beauty of Japan.
